I’m Officially Engaged: How Long to Be Together Before Engagement!
I still can’t believe that I’m a fiancé!!! When I think about adulthood and where I see my life, it’s always been with Jordan. We started dating at 20 years old, but our bond started as early as 18. When I look back at the 9 years of our relationship, I truly question WHERE DID THE TIME GO?! But time indeed flies when you are having fun.
Patience is Key In A Relationship
Some Might Ask How Long to Be Together Before Engagement? If you had asked me last year if I thought Jordan had an engagement ring for almost a year, I would have said “CAP”! I’m nosey AF and there were absolutely no signs, although we’ve talked about it… several times! It’s interesting because after a point, I stopped asking about an engagement because I knew there were things I had to work on myself before I was blessed with the commitment, and that was patience. Not as if I didn’t have it already, but patience, specifically in the desire to be engaged, is required (esp. because this man secretly already had my ring). Simply put, I don’t think anyone can answer how long to be together before engagement because each love story is as unique as the couple.
Let Go of The Engagement Expectations
Crazy to think I had told Jordan I didn’t want to get proposed to on my birthday or any holiday because I wanted it to be its own special day… and sure enough, that was the perfect way to throw me off because… clearly. This goes to show that you can’t control everything, and things will happen when they are supposed to, and better than expected. I had the most perfect, thoughtful, and memorable proposal I could have ever imagined. Best of all, I get to continue life married to my best friend!
